The Common Application and SSAR

Common App
The Common Application (often called Common App) is a single online college application you can fill out once and send to multiple participating colleges—over 1,000 schools in the U.S. and abroad. Instead of filling out a separate application for each college, you complete one form with your personal info, activities, essays, and recommendations, then select the schools you want to apply to and submit with a click. Some schools may ask for extra “supplement” questions, but Common App keeps most of the process in one place.

SSAR
The Self-Reported Student Academic Record (SSAR) is an online form used by certain colleges (especially in Florida) where you self-report all of your high school classes and grades instead of sending an official transcript right away. Schools use your SSAR to review your application, and you only send an official transcript if you enroll. It’s meant to save time, reduce paperwork, and speed up the admission process—but accuracy is key, because it has to match your final transcript exactly.
